Hello! I am back with another skincare review! I have another Isntree product I’d like to share my thoughts on hehe. If you haven’t read my Isntree Hyaluronic Acid toner review, you should check it out! There are info about the brand and my newly-found essential winter product! I got the clay mask because I am a sucker for the trending popular skincare stuff and needed to see if the hype was true. I also like the brand and its value for cruelty-free and natural/non-toxic ingredients. I appreciate brands like Isntree who show quality in their products, and I trust that they do.
On to the product info (images taken from the company website)!
Mugwort is a popular ingredient that I’ve been seeing around the skincare community. Artemisia Princeps (Korean wormwood or Japanese mugwort, etc) is one of the many types of mugwort found in East Asia known for medicinal properties such as anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, diarrhea etc. as well as improve dry skin, skin barrier and an antioxidant. I suggest learning more info about it for yourself, I just did a quick research on it!

My Impressions:
I bought the product because I started getting acne around my cheeks and it was around last summer that I ordered it from Masksheets.com. I don’t remember how much I paid for the product but the clay mask usually costs around $19-20 USD for 100mL/3.38 fL oz

The packaging is simple, has a nice color similar to the highlighted ingredient: mugwort! The clay mask comes in a plastic, sturdy and lightweight squeeze bottle. The scent has a light pleasant, herbal and powdery fragrance. The texture is creamy, has a tint of green color, with pieces of mugwort. The mask usually starts drying up within 10-20 minutes. I keep the mask on for 15 minutes to keep my skin from over drying.

The product does turn slightly darker once it starts drying and there is a tight feeling. Rinsing the mask off is quite tedious because it’s hard to wash off with just water. I do like seeing the mask residue on my sink, it gives me a clean satisfying feeling hehe.

I read that clay masks are usually very drying to the skin especially with dry skin types which is why I keep the product on to a minimum of 15 minutes or less. After washing, I did feel a slight tightening which meant that my skin felt a bit dry. I did feel clean afterwards, some of my blackheads/whiteheads disappeared after using but not all. I normally use the mugwort mask at least once a week, maybe less often.
I can honestly say that the product definitely proved itself to be more hydrating than the other clay masks I’ve tried, but still a tad bit drying to my skin. I do like the clean feeling after washing it off, and I have noticed my acne calming down a bit right after using it. I can’t say that my acne improved because of the product, I only use it once a week and not too often since winter started. The mask would be more suitable for anyone with oily-combo skin. I will probably only use the product during summer when my skin starts getting oily because it’s really good for controlling sebum production.
I hope you found this review helpful for those wanting to try a new clay mask. Thank you so much for reading! Till next time!
